Changing of the guard on the hardstand. The big Riv’s have headed home and now the small boats are in the yard. And if you look on the horizon….blue sky…….and still some bushfire smoke. More than 110,000 hectares of bush and grass has been on fire in the past few weeks and fires are still burning as the wind keeps changing direction.

The bush fires on the North Coast have been around for weeks now. Today they are closer than ever, but still well away from the marina. The fires are burning to the west at Ashby and to the north Woombah. There is ash in the air and everyone should keep an eye out for burning embers. Hot ash and burning material can fly for many kilometres in advance of the fire front. Strong winds are pushing the fires south.

Everyone need to be on the lookout. And when the danger passes…..all the boats will need a good clean….ash is everywhere!. Stay safe and thank god for the firies!!!!!

We have just undergone our six-monthly electrical check on the marina and it has come to our notice that a few of the new power outlets are becoming unstable because of the condition of the connection.

We strongly advise all customers use screw-in power leads. This type of lead avoids the three pin plug becoming lose with the movement of the marina. Moisture on the connecting pins can cause a short. Screw-in plugs are not expensive and are our preferred style of power connection.
